| 23.11.2004 - Salford's New Deal area - Kersal and Charlestown - will be transformed as local community-led design of new neighbourhoods. The Claremont and Weaste areas of Salford will benefit from a range of environmental schemes providing improved security, a better street scene and demolition of some low demand stock.
In the Manchester area.The Northmoor area of Longsight a brand new community - New Islington - will be created in place of the rundown Cardroom estate, with the regeneration specialists Urban Splash as the lead developers.
Moss Side, centred on the now empty Maine Road stadium, is seen as a key element in Pathfinder redevelopment. Local consultation has already shown a wish for mixed housing involving the private sector on the 15.5 acre Maine Road site, including key worker accommodation near to a major route into the city from the south.
In Langworthy / Seedley, regeneration work is underway already, with innovative plans, including a new use for terraced homes.
In Broughton, plans have been drawn up in consultation with local residents to demolish unpopular private homes and bring in new investment across the area. A new district centre, education and sports facilities are also contained in a comprehensive action plan for the area. Funding will come from pathfinder cash and from the Royal Bank of Scotland.

The Birmingham Sandwell Housing Market Renewal area covers Smethwick, West Bromwich, Oldbury Road End, Handsworth, Winson Green, Rotton Park, Handsworth and Lozells. The £50 million funding will be complemented by an extra £70.5 million from other key partners.
