Housing Market Renewal Pathfinder Doncaster Programme
2004/2006

Around one million homes are affected by low housing demand and abandonment, spread across over 120 local authorities in the North and Midlands. Low demand areas are characterised by limited market choice; the departure of economically active households; poor condition of unpopular housing, poor facilities and inadequate local services. Both social and private sector housing is affected.

South Yorkshire’s Housing Market Renewal Pathfinder

Transform South Yorkshire is the name of South Yorkshire’s Housing Market Renewal Pathfinder. It covers parts of Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield. We work closely with all four local authorities in South Yorkshire, as well as other regeneration organisations and local communities. More...

    Pathfinder Plan
Areas of chronic low demand are evident across the whole of the pathfinder area, particularly in the social rented sector. Pockets of neighbourhood abandonment are also becoming apparent. Obviously one of the tasks of the pathfinder programme is to tackle these existing problems and prevent them spreading. But it would be a mistake to see the Housing Market Renewal Programme as entirely problem-driven. The programme presents a unique opportunity to affect the transformation needed to promote a successful sub-region and achieve the renaissance of our urban areas. In this sense the programme links very clearly to the development of South Yorkshire’s spatial strategy, and the emergence of unique roles for the four urban centres. The timing is fortuitous - an initial study commissioned by the South Yorkshire Forum will report in November/December, just as the detailed analysis to support the Housing Market Renewal strategy begins.

Land in Sheffield for Sale - Foxhill Site

Prime Opportunity

The Foxhill sites are seen as prime opportunities to achieve high quality housing developments. Sheffield City Council aims to create exemplar projects in design excellence and environmental performance that will set a high benchmark for future development, not only in Southey Owlerton but also across the city. Linking City and Countryside.

Foxhill is an extremely attractive location with commanding views over open countryside. The site’s natural topography ensures that it enjoys panoramic views across Sheffield and towards Barnsley. In addition, what makes this location so special is its proximity to greenbelt land, known historically as “Back Edge”. This provides a unique opportunity to connect Foxhill to the city and the countryside, both visually and physically.....More
